An exhibition featuring snooker legend Ken Doherty was held at Caernarfon Town Football Club on 31 July. The event was organised by Ken Henson, Darren Hughes and Llyr Hughes and attracted players from across the Bangor and District Snooker League.
During the exhibition, league players had the opportunity to take on the former World Champion, but none managed to defeat him. Doherty demonstrated his class throughout the evening, compiling a century break and several other impressive breaks of 50, 60 and 70.
Following the exhibition matches, a raffle was held, with the top prize being the chance to play Doherty in a frame. Iwan Griffiths won the raffle and took on the Irish legend, although he was unable to secure a victory.
An auction then followed, with three prizes on offer. The first prize was another opportunity to play Doherty, the second was a cue and case, and the third was a sketch of Doherty created by local artist Ivor Jones.
The chance to play Doherty was won by Shawsha of the Mayo Group of Builders, whose winning bid of £250 secured the prize. The cue and case were won by Richard Williams for £160, while Rheinallt Davies purchased the sketch for £40, bringing the first auction total to £450.
Doherty then generously donated tickets to the Welsh Open Snooker Tournament, which will be held at Venue Cymru in February 2027. Once again, Shawsha was the successful bidder, paying £750 for the tickets.
The evening raised a grand total of £1,200, which will be shared between two charities: the British Heart Foundation and Amser I Siarad, the mental health charity.
The organisers would like to express their sincere thanks to Ken Doherty for giving his time and support, and to Shawsha for their generosity, which helped make the fundraising event such a success.
